YoUSD Edge vs YoUSD: FAQ

We’re launching YoUSD Edge, a new Moderate-risk vault designed for users seeking higher yield potential. This FAQ explains how it differs from YoUSD, the risks involved, and how to choose between the two.

What's the difference between YoUSD Edge and YoUSD?

Both are YO Protocol vaults that put your USD-denominated deposit to work across DeFi strategies. YoUSD Edge is the newer of the two and is currently rated Moderate risk, while the standard YoUSD vault is rated Low risk. YoUSD Edge also runs on Ethereum, while YoUSD runs on Base.

Which one has higher risk?

YoUSD Edge. It's built to reach for higher yield, which means it takes on more risk than the standard YoUSD vault. If you'd rather prioritize capital preservation over maximising yield, the standard YoUSD vault is the more conservative option.

Why would Edge carry more risk if the mechanism is the same (auto-reallocation across chains and protocols)?

Both vaults are continuously rebalanced across DeFi protocols to chase the best risk-adjusted yield, but Edge is allowed to allocate into a wider or more aggressive set of onchain opportunities in pursuit of that higher yield. More opportunity for yield generally means more exposure to protocol, market, and smart contract risk.

Can I lose money in either vault?

Yes. Both vaults are exposed to DeFi risks such as smart contract vulnerabilities, protocol failures, and market volatility. Edge carries more of this exposure than the standard vault given its Moderate risk rating.

Can I withdraw anytime from both?

Yes, both vaults let you withdraw whenever you like. Your funds are never locked in either vault.

Which one should I choose?

It depends on your risk appetite:

  • Prefer stability and a lower risk profile → YoUSD

  • Comfortable with more risk in exchange for higher yield → YoUSD Edge

Do I need to choose just one? No, you can hold both if you want to split your balance between the two risk profiles.

Is either vault covered by MiCA investor protections?

No. The Savings feature (including both vaults) is made available by Bleap SIA but is not part of its MiCA-regulated services, so MiCA investor protection safeguards do not apply to either vault. Learn more
